April 19th

Commonly known as the snapping turtle but scientifically known as the Chelydra serpentina are found all the way from southeastern Canada to edge of Rocky mountains and as far east as Florida and southwest into the northeast of Mexico. Snapping turtles are extremely strong with there jaw and can cause some damage. When out of water they are very active and have very fast movements. They are hunted for there meat where in some areas turtle is a popular meal. I chose this organism because when i was little i remember at a family reunion my uncle caught a snapping turtle and i thought it was the coolest thing so i thought by researching it i would be able to learn more interesting things about it.
